The right to truthful and reliable information (english version)

Italian Multiple Sclerosis Society’s involvment to protect the collective interest of people with MS

The right of persons with multiple sclerosis to have access to accurate and reliable information is fundamental. It has a primary importance in order for each person to adopt the best decisions about one’s own health. The right to a correct and appropriate information is closely linked to the sphere of personal freedom and self-determination.

In February 2012, after we received a large number of claims from people with MS, we went through the right Italian authorities and asked to take measures about the media campaign promoted by the “CCSVI in multiple sclerosis Association” in support of the Brave Dreams study on TV, radio, print and web. This action was addressed to ensure a correct and not misleading information on CCSVI to the persons with MS. We took this action to obtain a new information campaign, which should replace the contents of the previous one. This is the reason why we expressed our willingness to come to an agreement on a new correct campaign, for the best of persons with MS.

Since more than 40 years the Italian MS Society is fighting with the 63,000 persons with MS in Italy, to obtain the right to health, to full life, to an accurate and reliable information, which allows each person with MS to adopt consciously informed decisions about the safest and more effective health.
